Darko Polimac’s Fury – Is He Right?
Following the revealation of certain facts about the refusal of entry to no less than three weekend tournaments (Gonzaga, Bunratty and the recent Galway tournament) to Gabriel Mirza, a Romanian born player living in and settled here in Ireland for many years, and with a daughter who even plays for the Irish women’s Olympiad team, a former member of the ICU executive Darko Polimac is now so enraged, outraged and appalled that he has expressed his fury on a Facebook group page in which he lashes out at many within the Irish chess world. This includes but is not restricted to the ICU executive committee he used to serve on.
What is really going on and is he right to be so critical and furious? Consider the views he so strongly expressed and decide if this is accurate or fair comment?
BAN FOR LIFE FOR GABRIEL MIRZA FOR EXPOSING CHEATING BASTARD!
The killers and those selling kids to USA in TUAM and many other institutions here in Ireland lived their lives enjoying freedom and privileges. Many of those stealing tons of tax payers money are free today – living and enjoying their pensions .
However the punished are those who exposed cheating bastard from Gonzaga school. Only because he is not Irish and who was dare to attack rich cheating bastard is punished for life here in Ireland,
It is blatant and obvious discrimination .
Lots of players playing for Ireland day and night including our top player GM Baburin were not Irish born.
Irish chess owes a lot to many those from other countries playing for their new clubs .
The ICU Executive is ignoring the day to day discrimination of member of good standing. In case that this member is not his membership should be revoked and he would not be able to play at any tournament . However this is not the case. The previous Chairman was fighting for justice and he was determined to establish fair and transparent process of refusing player entry fair and same to all . Now we have tournament organizers which are refusing players with no appeal procedure at all. The ICU Chairman is not strong enough to fight them he want top be popular – this is his only goal. To stay popular at any cost. Populism and propaganda is only strategy of this Executive.
Those are results of this Executive which is afraid to protect member of the organisation from abuse and discrimination .
Yes tournament organizers have rights to refuse player but National organisation have right not to rate or advertise this event as well .
It is time that national organisation steps in and solve this once forever especially in situation where Chairman is from the same club as cheating bastard.
We all members of the ICU should be ashamed of this situation in which one player is abused in front of his children! As a father I find this disgusting and unfair !
This seems to beg a few questions, like who is Gabriel Mirza really? Why is he being refused entry for no apparent reasons, or at least none that seems to be mentioned in the email exchanges which have come to light?
Is there anybody able or willing to shed light on this topic and explain what this is all about? There is at least a very curious video of Gabriel Mirza at the 2014 chess Olympiad in which he is seen hanging out with many of the most well known figures within the wider world of chess and all seems well.
This video is entitled Gabriel’s Norway Adventures. One wonders has he had some fall from grace since 2014 and if so, what has happened and why is he now being refused entry to three weekend chess tournaments.
Somebody must know, or have an idea or two, about what this is all about? What exactly is the problem and what is the solution? Former ICU executive member Darko Polimac certainly seems very upset and concerned about things but what can be done?
